The public comment period for the City of Inglewood’s Hazard Mitigation Plan closed on Friday, October 28, 2022. Use the links below to read background on the planning process and stay posted to read the final HMP (expected December 2022 – January 2023)!

The City of Inglewood is currently updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan from 2010. The purpose of a hazard mitigation plan is to reduce or eliminate a community’s long-term risk to natural hazards. This update strives to identify and reduce vulnerability of the City’s residents, visitors, and infrastructure to future hazard events.

How to Participate

1. Get Informed

The HMP StoryMap presentation, created in conjunction with the Safety Week outreach event, provides an overview of the planning process and links to resources to better understand your household’s risk to various natural hazards.

2. Take the Survey

Thank you for participating in the survey to improve the City of Inglewood’s 2022 Hazard Mitigation Plan and Safety Element Update! Participants will be entered to win up to $150 in hazard mitigation home use items.

3. *NEW* Review the Final Draft Plan

Update 4/11/23: The City of Inglewood’s 2022 Hazard Mitigation Plan has been approved by FEMA, pending adoption from City Council

Goals of Public Engagement

  • Understand safety and hazard concerns, problem areas, assets, and policy and mitigation priorities on a neighborhood scale
  • Provide information and tools to community members, residents and businesses to increase safety and decrease hazard risk at the (private) parcel level
  • Collaborate with adjacent communities, special districts, utility providers, and other local regulatory agencies providing public safety services
