Thank you to the many community members, partner agencies, and participating jurisdictions who contributed feedback during the public review period.

Following the public review process, the Hazard Mitigation Plan was revised and submitted to the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for state review. Cal OES has completed its review and forwarded the updated plan to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for final federal review.

FEMA’s review ensures the Santa Cruz County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan meets all federal planning requirements under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, which allows participating jurisdictions to remain eligible for FEMA hazard mitigation grant programs.

Once FEMA completes its review and issues an Approval Pending Adoption (APA) letter, the County and participating jurisdictions will proceed with formal plan adoption.
