The purpose of hazard mitigation is to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and their property from hazards. La Plata County developed the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) update to make the County, its residents and visitors less vulnerable to future hazard events.
